Hill Walking & Hiking

From short strolls along quiet country roads to strenuous hikes along narrow mountain ridges this area offers some of the best walking available in Scotland.

The most famous footpath in the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park is the West Highland Way. Stretching for 95 miles from Milngavie to Fort William in the north of Scotland. Taking around a week to walk the entire length, but short sections can easily be walked in a day.

Golf

The Loch Lomond & Trossachs National Park boasts some fantastic terrain for walking, choose from walks along tranquil Loch Shores, through ancient forests and over breathtaking mountain peaks.

Watersports

Loch Lomond is Scotland's largest loch, 23 miles long and 5 miles at it's widest point - and presents a great opportunity for messing about on the water. Loch Lomond offers one of the most beautiful sailing experiences in the world with its many islands and sheltered anchorages.

The Loch is suitable for all types of craft from kayaks to cruisers, luxury yachts to small dinghies. Equipment can be hired from various locations round the loch.

Cycling

The Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park boasts some of the best cycling Scotland has to offer. There's something for everyone from gentle family trundles to long distance round trips on every type of terrain.

The National Cycle Network Route 7 (NCR7) runs through the National Park from Balloch to Killin. Parts of it are on purpose built traffic free tracks, whilst other parts of it are on minor roads with other traffic.

Wildlife Watching

When you come to stay at Elmbank be sure to bring your camera and binoculars with you as the National Park is home to some fantastic wildlife.

The hillsides, heather clad moors and ancient forests of the Loch Lomond and Trossachs National Park boast over 200 species of bird life. From falcons, buzzards and eagles in the more mountainous areas to capercaillie in the forests and herons, cormorants and osprey on the lochs. The National Park is also home to Red Deer and the shores of Loch Lomond is home to packs of Feral Goats.
